Since the organisation was founded in 2003 in Belgrade, Serbia, Atina\u2019s team has been intent to bring feminist perspective and principles to all respective actors, affect the causes of human trafficking and violence against women, improve the position and protection of survivors, strengthen gender equality, and contribute to wider social cohesion. Through its advocacy initiatives, Atina is a constant reminder to state institutions and strongly influences them to change their practices concerning the position of women and women’s rights. Atina is also a founder and owner of women social enterprise <\/span>Bagel Bejgl<\/a>, an initiative to provide economic future and sustainability of its programs.<\/div><\/div><\/div>

In 2021, Atina published a case study on the violation of the right to privacy and data confidentiality of children victims of human trafficking and sexual exploitation in Serbia – \u201cMankind owes to the child the best that it has to give<\/a>\u201d. Despite the fact that it shows a case of only one girl, this case is unfortunately far from isolated. The study represents a cross-section of the current situation in practice, in which harmful actions such as leakage of information from competent institutions are repeated over and over again, as well as publishing the identity of minor victims of human trafficking and details of their sexual abuse in the media.<\/div><\/div><\/div>

The NGO Dr\u017eavljan D underlaying principle is the inclusive promotion of human rights and digital rights. We believe in open digital environment available to all and we consider the digital environment to be an important part of the general political environment. To that end we\u2019re focusing on three key areas: digital rights, media literacy and active citizenship. We promote human and digital rights by organizing public events (seminars, workshops, roundtable discussions), performing calls to action in the before mentioned fields, conducting analysis and reports of the current practices in the field and connecting with similar organizations through-out the region.<\/div><\/div><\/div>

Digital Freedom Fund\u2019s event Appealing Cases: Building Communications around Digital Rights Litigation<\/span><\/div><\/div><\/div>

To support their network in creating more effective communications strategies, from 20 to 22 September 2021, DFF will be holding a three half-day virtual event that seeks to take a deeper look at how we can use different forms of communication as a tool to bolster and complement digital rights litigation.<\/div>

 <\/p>

The event will consist of a mixture of training sessions, delivered by experts in communications, journalism, and art, and workshopping sessions that will give space for participants to build a communications strategy around cases or issues they are working on.<\/div>
